i spent june in a fever
burning
holes in my mirror
and pulling up roots
my sole’s wearing thinner
push through
fog and a dull ache
pulsing
leaves are turning quicker this year
hold you close while i still can
as we whittle down the last days
sunlight melts them in our hands
feeling sick in the daylight
colder
nights than i'm used to
break through my coat
flames lick the edges
grey smoke
follows wherever
i go
but colder means we’re getting closer
now the trees are fully bare
as sleeping through the night gets harder
tea steadies my hands

moonspots

im petting stone dogs
and building mildew
beneath the moonspots
ill collect myself
and hand-deliver
as soon as night falls
i think the new air
is doing you good
i kick myself
speckled red and white
is that how you see me?
floating weightless over shards of myself
peeling clementines
resting my head within the folds of your clothes
grass stains on my knees
are never fading
although im grey now
and as the streetlights
eat away darkness
i rip my hair out
the blue is fraying
the plants are dying
my thoughts escape
will you haunt me every day?

im congested breaking through the cobwebs of sleep that still shroud me all my limbs have hardened bark and branches whisper they don't miss me ignore the cracks in the pavements threatening to keep me wandering boil water hear the siren nothing left to be forgotten feel my body shaking cant divine a source till i get colder. target poking in and out of skin still glowing sit much stiller overgrown but slowly getting better as the days grow longer plug and play the ghosts are watching zip my bag turn off the music all my limbs have hardened but its better now i know its better

good morning my darling
how are you i missed you
i slept on the sofa
the a/c was busted
let’s wait out the weather
and sit here together
you don’t have to say it
i love you, i'll say it
the sunlight’s not the problem
tell me softly
unless you wanna stand here in the rain
i dont know where im going
for a few months
in december i'll be on your porch again
good morning my darling
it rained through the whole night
i made you some breakfast
the sky isn't changing
don't get up, i got it
i love you, i love you
your earring is breaking
don't worry, i got it

the last time
i saw you in that bookstore
i’d heard
that you were fine, or better
being
a bit more careful about
where i
put down my feet
shuffling
through the concrete and the
people
that i dont miss
brighter
than i was this time last year but
i miss the rain
feeling way too
cold in the light
is it better
if i wake
pull a card
tell me my secrets
gold but slowly
turning grey
smolder
with the fire you held
closer
to the birch tree
dry off
but the feeling lingers
could you
remember how
fragrant
the pieces that you bore were
could you
still bring them back
water
you couldn't turn to wine but
kept it
hot anyway
shake the embers off
don't burn yourself
on something you don't own
float a little higher this time
things look better
from above
i’m still waiting for the kindling to get drier i left to go and dream of waking summer’s still a mess and all my shit is broken everything is different now.
don't sleep away the light
the night will still embrace you
